777 DLO Diesel Locomotive Cable is a versatile cable used in a variety of different applications. This cable is manufactured to be used in both dry and wet locations, including areas where it may sit in moisture. The ICEA S-75-381: Portable and Power Feeder Cables for Use in Mines and Similar Locations outlines the manufacturing process by which this cable is to be made.

DLO cable meets the following:

  • MSHA standard P-7K-123040
  • UL 44
  • C22.2 No 3895
  • All RoHS compliant requirements
  • FT-4 Flame Test
  • VW-1 Flame Test
  • Low Smoke Rated

It is classified as a UL Type RHH-RHW-2 and a CSA Type RW90 1kV.

Specifications:

As with all DLO cables, the 777 gauge cable is designed to be resistant to moisture, including oils, acids, and alkalies. It’s also resistant to heat and flames, plus the thick insulation protects the cable from abrasions and cuts.

The 777 MCM DLO cable has a nominal insulation thickness of 0.110 inches. Its diameter complete cable (O.D.) is 1.54 inches, and it has a stranding (Al/Stl) of 1924/24. The cable has an allowable ampacity of 910 amps at 90 degrees Celsius. A spool of 1,000 feet of 777 MCM DLO cable weighs 3,050 pounds.

Applications:

There are many different applications in which 777 MCM DLO cable can be used. The most common of these uses include the following:

  • As a power supply cable in diesel-electric locomotives, primarily in the traction motors.
  • In a number of different shipyard applications, including areas of standing water.
  • As a portable cable for on-shore and off-shore drilling rigs.
  • In the wiring of railroad and transit cars.
  • As a lead in Telcom power supplies and motors.
  • As a supply lead in arc welders.

This cable can be used in conduits, troughs, ducts, and trays.

DLO is especially suitable to supply power to traction motors of diesel-electric locomotives. It is also recommended as a portable cable for drilling rigs, on-shore or off-shore, railroad and transit car wiring, electric earth-moving equipment, in shipyard applications, arc welder supply leads, power and control jumper cable, Telcom power supply and motor leads. The cable is suitable for use in wet or dry areas, conduit, ducts, troughs or trays, and where superior electrical properties are desired. The maximum continuous conductor temperature for normal operation in wet or dry locations is 90°C. DLO resists oils, acids, alkalies, heat, flame, and has abrasion resistance.
