DLO Diesel Locomotive Cable is most commonly used for railway and subway applications, but can also be used in dozens of other assignments.  The cable possesses the water, chemical, and oil-resistant qualities to be used in onshore and offshore drilling rigs, shipyards, and other marine structures.

This cable is able to perform under incredible stress because of its durable construction.  The cable’s first line of defense is a flame, oil, and water-resistant jacket composed of crosslinked polyethylene (CPE).  The exterior jacket sees the most abuse and is designed to protect the cable from corrosion and abrasion.  Beneath the jacket is a layer of thermoset-complex ethylene propylene (EP) rubber which gives the cable a second layer of defense against punishment.  At the cable’s core are tinned annealed stranded copper wires to carry up to 2000 volts of electrical current.

DLO Diesel Locomotive Cable can be installed indoors or outdoors in wet or dry locations.  It passes numerous flame tests such as UL VW-1 and CSA FT4 Vertical Flame Test.  With these credentials, the cable can be used in locations with an increased risk of fire.  For DLO Diesel Locomotive Cable and other related products, be sure to visit Nassau National Cable’s extensive selection of heavy-duty cables.

Applications: DLO is especially suitable to supply power to traction motors of diesel-electric locomotives. It is also recommended as a portable cable for drilling rigs, on-shore or off-shore, railroad and transit car wiring, electric earth-moving equipment, in shipyard applications, arc welder supply leads, power and control jumper cable, Telcom power supply and motor leads. The cable is suitable for use in wet or dry areas, conduit, ducts, troughs or trays, and where superior electrical properties are desired. The maximum continuous conductor temperature for normal operation in wet or dry locations is 90°C. DLO resists oils, acids, alkalies, heat, flame, and has abrasion resistance.
