444 MCM DLO Diesel Locomotive Cable can be found in a variety of machinery and equipment. It’s also useful in a variety of different environments and locations. The cable was designed and manufactured in accordance with the ICEA S-75-381: Portable and Power Feeder Cables for Use in Mine and Similar Locations standard, which means that it is designed to be used in damp areas where it may be pulled through sharp, abrasive terrain.

This cable is also MSHA accepted as per P-7K-123040 and is RoHS compliant. It is listed as a Type RHH-RHW-2 as per UL 44 and as a Type RW90 1kV as per CSA C22.2 No 3895. The cable meets VW-1 and FT-4 flame tests and is rated as a low smoke cable.

Specifications:

This cable is designed to be resistant to acids, alkalies, flame, heat, oils, and moisture. It is also covered with an insulation that is designed to resist cutting and abrasions caused by being pulled over rough terrain.

A 444 DLO cable has a nominal insulation thickness of 0.095 inches. Its AWG is 444.4, and it has a stranding (Al/Stl) of 1110/24. The diameter complete cable (O.D.) is 1.23 inches. The cable’s allowable ampacity is 642 amps when operating at 90 degrees Celsius. It has a maximum continuous conductor temperature of 90 degrees as well.

Applications:

The 444 DLO cable is primarily designed as a power supply cable in the traction motors of diesel-electric locomotives. However, that’s not its only use. It’s also often used in electric earth-moving equipment, including equipment used underground in mines. It may be found in shipyard applications, in off-shore and on-shore drilling rigs, and in arc welder supply leads. DLO cable is occasionally used in the wiring of railroad and transit cars and in jumper cables as well.

DLO is especially suitable to supply power to traction motors of diesel-electric locomotives. It is also recommended as a portable cable for drilling rigs, on-shore or off-shore, railroad and transit car wiring, electric earth-moving equipment, in shipyard applications, arc welder supply leads, power and control jumper cable, Telcom power supply and motor leads. The cable is suitable for use in wet or dry areas, conduit, ducts, troughs or trays, and where superior electrical properties are desired. The maximum continuous conductor temperature for normal operation in wet or dry locations is 90°C. DLO resists oils, acids, alkalies, heat, flame, and has abrasion resistance.
