Applications
Type NM-B Copper Building Wire is commonly applied in residential building wiring and branch circuits for switches and outlets. wire is for dry indoor applications. 12/3 can also be used for various building purposes inside (the temperature should not exceed 90 °C).12/2 NM-B electrical wire can be used in air voids in tile walls. The voltage rating of the 12 Gauge is 600 volts. The 12/3 electrical wire is easily installed because it is specifically designed for easier pulling.

Unlike 12/2 wire, which is used for standard circuits and outlets, 12/3 Nm-b electrical wire is used for circuits where two independent circuits are run together (multi-wire branch circuits), or for special connections that need a third wire, such as a three-way switch or a split receptacle circuit.
