This type of XHHW-2 cable is made of a stranded single tinned copper conductor unlike the ones discussed above, it is tinned. Tinning is the coating of a thin layer of solder on the surface of the soldering iron. In this case, copper conductors are tinned to prevent corrosion and reduce friction. Copper conductors are then insulated with a chemically cross linked polyethylene. Every electrical cable should be tested and approved to meet all the necessary international standards and XHHW-2 VW-1 tinned copper cable is not an exception.

It meets the following specifications:

1.ASTM B3, B8, B33 and B787
2.UL 44
3.ICEA S-95-658 as per NEMA WC-70
4.Flame Test, FT 4
5.IEEE 1202 etc.

Why go for this cable?
Tinned wires are easy to solder and you can go for this cable when you will need soldering in your wiring systems. Besides, tinned copper conductors repel corrosion from taking place making the cable to withstand corrosive chemicals experienced in the environment like chlorine.

You can imagine handling a bare electrical wire carrying electric power, you will agree with me that you will get electrocuted. For this reason, it is recommended that you go for insulated electrical cables to ensure you of safety. This service wire is insulated with a cross linked polyethylene composite, which is flame and heat resistant. It also keeps the cable from damages caused by UV radiation, gasoline and oil.

Soft tinned copper conductors are flexible enough to withstand bending and folding during installation. A flexible cable is easy to handle as compared to a stiff and rigid cable. This is because you don’t need to apply too much of effort when bending it, which would in turn make you exhausted. Flexibility of the cable is an aspect to go by choosing cables in deploy in your power lines. Therefore I would recommend that you go for this power cable.

Applications
It is a preferred cable of choice when it comes to general purpose electrical wiring, for branch circuit, power distribution and where a cable with special flame retardance is desired. You also don’t haveto worry about harsh environmental temperature conditions, since it can be applied in either wet or dry areas experiencing up to 105 degrees Celsius.
