General Cable Category 3 Non-Plenum®

Product Details

Plenum refers to the space left for air circulation for heating, air conditioning and ventilation. This cable is made of a bare annealed copper solid insulated and jacketed with a PVC and polyolefin. PVC simply refer to polyvinyl chloride, which is tough and non-biodegradable. It comes with a rip cord and size 24 as per American Wire Gauge (AWG) and color coded for easy identification, with sequential footage marks to avoid confusion which may arise during installation activities.

Standards and Approvals

1.Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 444
2.RoHS Compliant Directive 2011/65/EU
3.ICEA S-100-661
4.ANSI or TIA 568-C.2

Category 3 Non-Plenum cable undergoes all the above listed tests and approved to meet them and thus branded as a top quality cable product, ready to perform.

Why go for this cable?
Just like any other electrical cable, the category 3 cable has its resilient features that improves its conductive performance making it a cable of choice. Most and importantly it has a superb insulation made of a polyvinyl chloride compound. PVC is well known for its great protection against chemical and mechanical damages. It is flame retardant, moisture repellant, oil and abrasion resistant.

PVC is also non-biodegradable to mean that it does not succumb to fungal attack, even when used for direct burial applications it will not get decompose. Cable insulation is very important because it offers protection to the cable against environmental damages as well as protecting the user from electrocution. Such a cable is worth going for as it ensures safety of both the user and the cable.

You will agree with me that pealing and chopping an electrical cable during installation could be tiresome and floppy. As for Category 3 cable, you don’t need to worry as it comes with a rip cord applied immediately under the PVC jacketing; that will give you an easy time during installation since you will only need to pull off the rip cords. Who doesn’t need a cable with rip cords? Make it your preferred cable of choice and say goodbye to floppy struggles encountered when chopping electrical cables without rip cords.

Applications
As I pointed out earlier, every cable is made to serve in different areas and Category 3 cables are designed for applications in ATMs, transmission of voice in communications and in token rings.
