MP-GC - 1 Gauge

MP-GC - 1 Gauge

Product Details

Product Description:

Type MP-GC-8KV cables are three-conductor cables that include two neutral ground conductors.  The cable conductive components are made of Class B, coated, rope-lay-stranded, annealed copper wires.  The annealed copper product used in this cable offers superior flexibility compared to standard copper, but offers the same powerful conductive properties.  The annealed copper phase conductors and the neutral ground conductors are insulated with ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) or crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE).  An extruded strand shield is applied directly over each insulated conductor.  An extruded insulation shield covers the assembly of conductors.  The insulation shield is made of thermoset, semi-conductive material wrapped in copper tape.  The shield serves to prevent leakage and electrical shock.  The cable gets most of its strength from its extra heavy-duty exterior jacket.  The yellow outer jacket is a layer of chlorinated polyethylene.  This material is resistant to oils, chemicals, high or low temperatures, and weather.  CPE jacketed cables are also flame retardant and have great tensile strength.  The jacket helps with the cable’s overall resistance to crushing, abrasion, and cut-through.

Applications:

Type MP-GC-8KV holds a temperature rating of 90°C in normal continuous conditions, 130°C in emergency conditions, and 250°C in short circuit situations..  The cable is primarily used in light to medium-duty mining applications because of its durable yet flexible construction.  The cable can be used for heavy-duty tasks such as power supply cable, power cable for portable and mobile electric equipment, motors, and industrial appliances.  The cable can also be used in construction zones or locations with a high chance of vehicle run-over.  The cable can be used in drudges, shovels, and other situations where heavy power load is required.

Specifications:

-                The cable aligns with ICEA standard S-66-524.

-                The cable is compliant with Mining Safety and Health Administration requirements

Construction:

-                Conductors

  • The cable features two coated, rope-lay-stranded, annealed copper wire conductors.
  • The cable uses coated, rope-lay-stranded, annealed copper wires.
  • The annealed copper product used in this cable offers superior flexibility compared to standard copper, but offers the same powerful conductive properties.

-                Ground Conductor

  • The assembly includes two coated copper, rope-lay-stranded ground conductors.
  • The ground conductors serve to ensure steady conductivity through the phase conductors.

-                Extruded Strand Shield

  • Each conductor strand is wrapped in an extruded conducting stress control layer.

-                Insulation

  • The annealed copper phase conductors and the neutral ground conductor are insulated with ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) or crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE).
  • EPR is a synthetic rubber that is resistant to sunlight, moisture, and oil.
  • XLPE is a thermoset compound, slightly more rigid than EPR, with similar resistant properties.

-                Extruded Insulation Shield

  • The insulation shield is made of thermoset, semi-conductive material wrapped in copper tape.
  • The shield serves to prevent leakage and electrical shock.

-                Jacket

  • The cable is jacketed in yellow chlorinated polyethylene.
  • This material is resistant to oils, chemicals, high or low temperatures, and weather.
  • The jacket adds tensile strength to the cable and also helps with the cable’s resistance to crushing, abrasion, and cut-through.
  • The jacket comes standard in black but is available in colors if specified.
