Product Details

Type MP-GC Mold-cured cable is made of annealed copper conductors which are insulated with an Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR). Annealing of copper conductors makes them soft and flexible; it is the process of heating copper wires and allowing them to cool and the end-product is softer compared to standard copper wires, which are hard and stiff. EPR insulation is also shielded with a semi-conductor layer. A grounding wire is laid closely to the insulated copper conductors. 

The grounding wire is made of tinned copper wire; tinning refers to a thin layer of metal coating of the copper conductor improving its electrical conductivity. It is longitudinally shielded with a semi-conducting layer that do not allow the transfer of electric power thus ensuring safety of the user. Type MC-GC Mold cable comes with a ground check conductor of size 8 AWG that is insulated with yellow polypropylene. This cable features 36-601 thermosetting mold-cured CPE jacket with a permanent mark for identification and 36-621 Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). Tiger Brand mining cable’s assembly is taped at the core.

Insulation
Ethylene Propylene Rubber insulating compound secures the safety of the user and the cable as well. EPR insulation is a semi-conducting layer that do not permit transmission of electric power thus preventing the user from unnecessary electric shocks, especially when handling the cable during installation. It keeps the cable from harsh environmental damages that may be as a result of corrosive chemicals or deformations. Insulation of copper conductors creates a permanent barrier between the live conductors and the grounding conductor, preventing any contacts between them that would cause power surges.

Shielding
This cable comes with a dual thermosetting semi-conductor shielding layers; conductor shielding and insulation shielding. Conductor and insulation shielding primarily helps in stress control to the cable.

Jacket
Jacketing is a tough outer coat that provides an additional protection to the cable. Amercable Mold-cured & PVC cable is jacketed with a Chlorinated Polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride which are flame retardant thus do not succumb to burning in case of fire outbreak. It also protects the cable from damages caused by abrasions, moisture, corrosive salts and oils.

Applications
It is primarily designed for applications in mining power distribution systems, installed through conduits, open air, ducts and direct burial. Recommended to perform in locations with temperatures not exceeding 90 degrees Celsius.
