350MCM 15kV EPR-PVC MV-90 Shielded

350MCM 15kV EPR-PVC MV-90 Shielded

Product Details

EPR-PVC 15kV Grounded, Shielded Type MV90 Power Cable

The 350MCM 15KV EPR-PVC MV-90 Shielded cable employs a Class B stranded copper conductor that bears ethylene propylene (EPR) rubber insulation and a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) external jacket.  The Class B stranded copper conductor is made of annealed uncoated copper.  Annealed copper is often preferred because the process softens the metal making it more flexible and maneuverable.  The assembly includes two separate layers of an extruded semi-conducting copolymer compound that serves as a shield over the conductors and over the insulation.  The extruded semi-conducting insulation shield is shielded with uncoated helically applied copper wires and then covered in 5 mil bare copper tape.  The outer PVC jacket protects the conductors from extreme temperatures, chemicals, and UV rays.

The 350MCM 15KV EPR-PVC MV-90 Shielded cable is a wide-diameter cable designed to carry medium voltages up to 5,000 Volts.  These cables are intended for use as a feeder and can be used in many different types of applications. The cable can be installed in conduit, duct or aerial applications and must be supported by a messenger wire. This cable can also be buried directly, but only if it is installed in a system with a grounding conductor in close proximity.  The cable can function in wet or dry locations and has a maximum conductor temperature of 90°C.   Per Underwriters Laboratories specifications, this cable is deemed acceptable by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Product Description:

This cable employs a Class B stranded copper conductor that bears ethylene propylene (EPR) rubber insulation and a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) external jacket.

Applications:

The MV-90 Power cable is designed to carry medium voltages up to 5,000 Volts.

Specifications:

  • Per specifications set forth by Underwriters Laboratories, this cable meets standard 1072.  This standard sets the requirements for Type MV-90 cables, ensuring their ability to transmit medium voltages (5,000 Volts) and operate at temperatures up to 90°C.
  • Ethylene propylene components of this cable conform to ICEA S-93-639.
  • Underwriters Laboratories specifications deem this cable acceptable in adherence to OSHA guidelines.

Construction:

-                Conductors

  • The conductive components of this cable are made with Class B stranded annealed uncoated copper.  Copper is an extremely powerful conductor and when the annealing process is applied, the conductor becomes more malleable; an admired quality in most applications.

-                Conductor Shield

  • The conductor bears an extruded semi-conducting copolymer compound shield.

-                Insulation

  • The Class B copper conductor is insulated by ethylene propylene rubber (EPR).  This insulation helps to stabilize the conductive current and add mechanical strength to the overall assembly.

-                Insulation Shield

  • Extruded semi-conducting copolymer compound is applied directly over the ERP insulation.

-                Jacket

  • The PVC outer jacket serves as the cable’s first line of defense UV rays and adds mechanical strength the overall assembly.
