Uses and Applications of Type W Portable Power Cable Round

Type W Round Portable Power Cables are available in industrial grade single conductor as well as multi-conductor cables. Based on the number of conductors, they can be used for specific applications.

Unique Technical Features of Type W Portable Power Cable
The Type W Portable Power Cables are constructed by rope-lay, stranded bunched annealed copper conductors. Polyester or paper tapes are used for separating copper conductors from the Ethylene Propylene insulation. This assembly is then wound with non-wicking fillers. The cable is covered with a black CPE rubber jacket which can be identified easily. The jacket is reinforced by a braid of synthetic material.

The cables possess excellent resistance to oils, solvents, ozone, sunlight, abrasion and aging. The cables are UL listed, CSA Approved, RoHS Compliant and meets FT-5 Flame Test. The Type W Portable Power Cables are rated at 2000 volts and have a temperature rating of about 90°C to -40°C.

Specific Applications of Type W Portable Power Cable
Type W Portable Power Cable is suitable for use in industrial and light to medium duty mining applications. It can be used as power supply cable in heavy duty service applications as well as mobile and portable electrical equipment. Other typical applications include motor and battery leads. Both grounded as well as ungrounded cables can be used in AC systems.

Multi-conductor cables are generally used for a wide range of applications. Two conductor cables are used on DC or AC single phase systems where grounding is not required. Three conductor cables are used on AC systems where no grounding is required or on DC systems with one conductor for grounding. Four conductor cables can be used on two or three phase AC systems with one conductor used for grounding. Five conductor cables are used in applications where separating the system neutral from the frame ground is required.
