The Electronic Cable

An electronic cable refers to an assembly of one or many electrical conductors compacted together with the overall sheath of insulator used in electrical power transmission. The power cable can be installed as an overhead wiring connection, permanent wiring in the building, buried under the ground or exposed. As long as the wireless power transmission has not been discovered, the cable transmission of power will continually remain a common thing. Electric currents are very dangerous and thus a cable which is used in transmitting power should have safety measures for protection against unnecessary electrocution. This is often catered for by the insulation coating on the cables.

The Electronic Cable come in a variety of size, type and material with each modified to suit its purpose. A cable comprises of three major components; the conductor itself, insulation and the protective jacket. Electronic cable is designed based on its individual application. This cable is made based on the capacity of voltage it will be transmitting, the environmental condition (temperature) and the size of the conductor to be used. The major conductors used in making a power cable is either copper or aluminum. Copper made electronic cable is heavier, faster in power transmission and stronger than the aluminum made cable.

Types of electronic Cables and their benefits

There are different types of electronic cables used in different fields in the power connection. Some of these cables include;

1.The connecting cable

This cable is thought to have one wire coated with a plastic insulation. It is commonly used in the point to point power transmission connection. This type of electronic cable can also be bundled together to form a wiring loom used for other purpose.

2.The RF Coaxial Feeder electronic cable

This cable is made of copper plated core, surrounded with a dielectric insulation. It has a woven shielding copper capsuling the insulating layer, which is coated by outer plastic sheath. This cable is preferred for home video and audio electronic appliances and the components of area networking signal. Examples include the twin-axial, hard line etc.

3.Screened Electronic Cable

This electronic cable is intended for use where there is need for screen protection on one or more wires against stray radiation. It is commonly deployed for the low level audio systems and also in microphones. In some audio application two wires can be used in providing a balanced system in which none of the wires are earthed. This additional screen enhances the maximum amount of resistance to stray pick-up.

4.The Data transfer Cable

This is an electronic cable that helps in the transmission of data cable from one computer to the other. With the emergence of technology of computer, there was need to transmit data from it and thus the data cable was invented to transmit computer data without errors. There are many data cables used but the only requirement a data cable must meet is that, it should transfer data over a length with less number of error at the receiving end.

Electronic cable flexible?

Electronic cable is flexible enough to allow for shipping to the installation site and also to wound on drums as well. In case a cable will be moved repeatedly, it is better to consider a more flexible cable known as ‘’flex’’ or ‘’cords’’.

Applications

Electrical power transmitting cable has a wide field of application including the connections in power stations, electrical appliances, in our residential buildings, overhead and underground transmissions.
