Signal Cable

A signal is basically an electronic impulse or radio wave which is transmitted from a particular object and received by another object. Signals carry information and in the field of electronics and technology, a lot of information is relayed using the electronic signals. The signal cables are used to convey these information in signal form to the recipient where it is decoded and viewed as either a video, sound or written message. At Nassau electrical, we deal in a wide variety of signal cables. Our products are lab tested and proved to be standard compliant. You can also access other brands of these cables manufactured from Southwire, General wire and Americable.

The Coming of Signal Cables
In United States of America, around 1950 the televisions used then had frequencies which could only intercept signals in the line on sight. The signals that were not in the sight couldn’t be received. This made it difficult for the people living in valleys and hilly places to see programs that were being aired in the Television stations. The problem was solved by erecting antennas on the hills and running signal cables to people’s houses. The technology has since then been employed all over the world where people can now watch different programs and channels they desire.

Application and Benefits
Signal and control cable are types of flexible data cables. These cables are used in data transmission applications where there is greater demand that the cables get superb protection from signal interferences. Such applications therefore requires the most refined and screened, highly flexible and smallest in sizes cables. The signal cables are used in wide areas of applications, with the advent of technological experience, several industries like marine employ the use of these cables. Computer in offices use signal cables, Television sets, home appliances and even medical equipment use the signal cables. The signal cables are integral part of our move, we cannot omit it.

Bostrig Type P Shielded Cable
Prysmian and Draka have quite a range of signal cable products. One of their product which we do sell at Nassau electrical is Bostrig Type P shielded cable. The cable is made of soft annealed conductors made from tinned copper. The conductors are then taped to separate them using a polyester tape. Its insulation system is made from cross-linked polyolefin material. This insulation is approved by the IEEE Standardization applications. The polyester tape with drain wire is applied over each twisted pair to provide a shield for the cable.

Jacketing of the Bostring Type P is very comprehensive. The material used to make the cable allows higher ampacity levels. This cable can be manufactured in unarmored, armored or in jacket is a thermosetting material which is flame retardant. Chlorinated Polyethylene is used as the cable jacket. Its use as the jacket for this cable is in compliance with the IEEE-1580-2010. The Bostrig Type P is for marine and offshore use and it is primarily designed for power control, signal and instrumentation applications, land drilling rigs, marine vessels and in production systems. The cable high oil resistance, moisture, sunlight resistance. It is resilient to abrasion and vibration. Its standard operation temperature is 125 degrees Celsius.

Seacoast Type T/NTA, NTBs
This is another type of signal cable. It is composed of bare conductors which are made and adapted for marine environments. It has shielded, paired and twisted conductors which support applications with a voltage demand of 600 volts. The cable has PVC insulation system, PVC jacket and a sheath.

Applications
This cable is used primarily in marine environment like marine vessels, floating offshore items, drilling of offshore rigs and in the onshore facilities. It can also be applied in gas and fire detection mechanism, tank level reader, communication system, smoke detection and many other relevant applications.

A lot of signal transmission and signal processing is involved in marine applications. These signals need to be guarded excellently in order to prevent any interferences. It explains why the signal cables have a sturdy insulation, jacket and a prominent shield. The signal cables are also made from tinned copper which has higher qualities like resistance to corrosion and high electrical conductivity.

Consider using our signal cables since they have the approval from UL, IEEE, America Bureau of Shipping, CSA, and Transport Canada Approved amongst many other test approvals. These cables are made with outstanding uniqueness which serves well in the marine systems
