Flexible Single Conductor Type P MOR Polyrad XT

Marine Cable available at Nassau Electrical. If you’re interested in a multi-purpose power transmission cable that can be put to use in a wide range of marine applications then this is the cable you should be thinking about. Like every other high quality cable or wire for power supply systems this cable will satisfy your transmission needs and save you the irritating experience of constantly having to replace or repair your cabling systems every now and then, which would be costly.

Structure
Type P Single Conductor cable comes in three different types; Type P MOR Polyrad XT 125 Power Armored and Sheathed, Type P Power Unarmored MOR Polyrad XT 125 and Type P MOR Polyrad Unarmored and Sheathed. These cables are designed with resilient features which significantly enhance their performance in different fields. They are all made of soft annealed copper wire which is flexible to allow for pulling and bending during installation.

Types of Type P single conductor cable

Type P Armored and Sheathed single conductor
The armored and sheathed single conductor is a Marine Cable fully insulated using irradiated polyolefin (XLPO) which is cross linked and a Heavy Duty (HD)irradiated cross linked XLPO both of which are black in color for identification. This cable is armored using braided bronze of 88% minimum coverage and sheathed with XL-CPE (Irradiated Cross Linked Chlorinated Polyethylene) which provides protection against mud oil. The protection against mud and oil is ideal for more so in oil drills where mud or oil would interfere with power transmission if it came into contact with the conductor. The materials used to make this conductor are tested and approved using the standard flame tests which are in accordance to the UL Listed specifications.

Type P Unarmored single conductor
This is the second version of the Type P single Conductor and comes as an unarmored of P armored version. This only means that it is not as safe as the one above but under well-protected marine environments where there’s little or no interference of mud and oil to power transmission the cable will operate as good as the armored. However, it comes with the same insulation material as the armored and sheathed Type P single conductor. The only difference is that this cable is not armored and not sheathed like the former. It is also tested and approved by a number of international standards organizations so it is a reliable cable I would recommend that you try out.

Type P Unarmored and Sheathed single conductor
The third version unarmored but sheathed with a black irradiated chlorinated polyethylene which is cross linked. Though this cable is not armored, the sheathing does a good job protecting the conductor from typical transmission interruptions by oil or mud when it is used on oil drills. The sheathing therefore enhances keeps it working well for years and thereby enhances its durability. It is also tested with the same specification standards of the type P single conductor cable.

Compliances:

Flame Test; -IEEE 1202, CSA C22.2 No. 0.3 ft4, IEC 60332-3-22 cat A

Industry; API-RP14F, Mud Oil Resistant, UL Listed temperature at 110 degrees Marine shipboard cable, CSA C22.2 No. 245 Type X110, UL 1309

Features and Benefits of Type P single conductor:
1.The XLPO insulation and the XL-CPE sheath coating offer protection to the cable against mechanical and chemical damages that may interfere with the conductor during installation or after installation. It is also important because it ensures safety of the users against the risks of electrocution.:

2.It is made of soft and flexible copper wire strands, which facilitate cable installation because the flexibility of  the strands makes it easy to bend or pull the cable.

3.High ampacity with an optimum operating temperature of 125 degrees; this means that the cable will barely overheat under heavy duty.

Applications:
Type P cables are designed for MODUs, offshore oil and gas power drilling systems and shipboards and FPSOs. They can also be applied in Class I division 1 & zone 1 dangerous environments when installed as per NEC Article 501.
