This cable is made of Class B stranded bare annealed copper conductor, which is at size 8 as per the American Wire Gauge (AWG). Copper is well known for its good electrical conductivity that is attributed by high tensile strength, creep resistant among other features. For these reasons, power cables made of copper offer great and long term service. The copper conductors of Dura Sheath Non-Shielded power cable are shielded with an extruded strand of a thermosetting semi-conductor, a layer that acts as a stress control to the conductors.

It is immediately insulated with an EPR (ethylene propylene rubber) which is color coded. The color coding helps for easy identification from the black color of the XL-CPE jacketing. XL-CPE refers to a lead free Cross Linked-Chlorinated Polyethylene, an outer covering coat that is adaptive to adverse environmental conditions. This cable is then tested to meet all the necessary International Standards tests which include:

1.ICEA S-96-659, NEMA WC71
2.Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 1072
3.National Electric Code (NEC) standards
4.UL listed as type MV-90 as per NEC, UL file E90501
5.OSHA acceptable
6.Test for leachable lead content in accordance to TCL method part 261

Power distributing cables should be tested and approved to comply with the intended purpose and should as well be capable of enduring the environmental conditions of the installation area. Type MV-90 Non-Shielded power cable is termed as a quality cable and ready to serve, as it meets all the above specification standards.

Why go for this cable?
It is made of flexible copper conductors. During installation you need cables that are not time consuming but rather gives you an easy time to handle. Flexible cables are easy to handle because you don’t need to apply too much effort to bend them in order to fit the corners of your wiring systems. When assembling cables for shipment, flexible cables will effortlessly be folded and wound into drums for transportation compared to stiff and rigid cables. You will agree with me that installing a rigid cable would be costly as you will need to incur cost of increasing labor to help in fixing your power line.I therefore recommend that you consider the flexibility of the cable before purchasing it, and Type MV-90 power cable is an ideal choice.

Insulation of electrical cables is a thing to consider as far as safety is concerned. You are likely to get electrocuted whenever you get into contact with a bare live wire transmitting electrical power. Well, it sounds simple but very fatal and life threatening when it occurs. Insulation covers ensures that your life is not at risk as it creates a convenient barrier between the conductors and the electrician thus preventing any further contact. This cable is insulated with an Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR), making it a preferred cable of choice.

EPR insulation and XL-CPE jacketing not only do they keep you away from electric shocks, but also provides a superb protection against harsh environmental conditions. EPR offers resistant to strong sunlight radiation, corrosive chemicals, abrasion and oil repellant. Some power cables are installed in extreme environment conditions experiencing such situations. This is why you should go for cables that can withstand adverse conditions in the environment, like type MV-90 power cable.

Cross Linked Chlorinated Polyethylene jacketing is flame retard and moisture resistant. Electrical cables should always remain dry and free from water as it may render the cable damp causing wear and tear, which may lead to power blows and faults thus inhibiting power from reaching your equipment slowing down the performance of your equipment. It also lowers the rate of friction when pulled during installation or when assembling for shipment.

Applications
This cable is a dual performing power cable and can be installed in both wet and dry environmental conditions, since it is rated at -35 degrees Celsius for cold bends and 90 degrees Celsius. It can be installed through aerial connection, open trays, conduit systems as well as underground installation method. Such a cable is used in many applications including steel mills, water treatment plants, textile mills, scrubbers, railroad, mining fields.

If you are interested in a top quality cable approved to provide a reliable and convenient performance over an extensive use, don’t hesitate to make MV-90 Gauge EPR your non-shielded cable of choice.
