Medium Voltage Power Cable

A medium voltage power cable is designed to carry less power than some larger power cables but still provide the energy necessary for a variety of different applications. These power cables come in a number of different types, some of which can carry more volts than others. Some may conduct as much as 15,000 volts of power, while others may be rated for a smaller amount, such as 5,000 volts. Many of these power cables are rated for use in both wet and dry areas because they’re used in a wide range of environments. In most cases, the operating temperature shouldn’t exceed 90 degrees Celsius, but that’s not always the case. Some of these cables may be mounted on insulators in both indoor and outdoor locations, while others may lay in metal or nonmetallic conduits. Medium voltage power cables may be used in commercial, industrial, and electric utility applications.
