2/0-3 ASD-VFD Tray Cables

2/0-3 ASD-VFD tray cables are primarily used with variable frequency drives (VFD) and motors. They are designed according to the National Electrical Code and meet a number of different standards for fire and sunlight resistance. These codes include IEEE 383 and IEEE 1202 / CSA FT-4; ICEA T-29-520; and UL 1277. This cable is rated for direct burial use and is RoHS compliant. It is also designed to be used in hazardous locations.

Description:

3 conductors, stranded, insulated with heat and moisture resistant cross-linked polyethylene, phase identified, cabled together with suitable fillers and 3 symmetrical bare copper ground conductors. Cable core covered with 5-mil helical copper tape shield, and overall flame and sunlight resistant black PVC jacket. Surface printed. Jacket available in colors.

Features:

  • Suitable for use in NEC Hazardous Locations: Class I - Div 2, Class II - Div 2, and Class III, Div 1 and 2.
  • For use in ASD / VFD applications.
  • Standards: UL 1277
  • Flame Rated: IEEE 383 (70,000 BTU), ICEA T-29-520 (210,000 BTU) on 1/0 and larger IEEE 1202 / CSA FT-4 Two-hour Firewall rated, (2/0 AWG and smaller)Sunlight Resistant, for CT Use; Direct Burial Oil Resistant II
  • JacketCode: Black and Numbered
  • Temperature Rating: 90?C Wet / Dry ICEA S-95-658 / NEMA WC-70
  • Exposed runs rated #4 and larger 600 Volt Tray Cable RoHS Compliant.

Specifications:

The 2/0-3 ASD-VFD cable makes use of three stranded conductors. The stranding is 19 Al/Stl, while the size of the conductors is 2/0 AWG. The conductors are insulated using a cross-linked polyethylene insulation with a nominal thickness of 55 mm. They are then cabled together with three symmetrical bare copper ground conductors that have a size of 6 AWG. The overall diameter of the entire cable is 1.289 inches. The cable is then covered with a PVC jacket that is resistant to direct sunlight and flames.

The cable’s allowable ampacity is 195 amps at 30 degrees C. It has a maximum voltage of 600 volts.

Applications:

All ASD-VFD cables are designed to conned VFDs with AC motors. These adjustable speed drives are found in a number of different pieces of equipment. The cable helps to adjust the speed of the motor and the torque. By varying the voltage and motor input speed periodically, the motor’s performance is improved and less power is used. ASD-VFD cables are often seen in fan motors, conveyor motors, and water pumps.

These cables can be used in both wet and dry areas. The standard operating temperature of the conductors, however, should never exceed 90 degrees C. The cable may also be used in NEC Hazardous Locations labeled as Class I, Div 2, Class II, Div 2, and Class III, Div 1 and Div 2.
