General Cable Type MP-GC® 500MCM 25kv Three Conductor EPR CPE

Product Details

Product Description:

Anaconda Brand Type MP-GC (Uniblend EPR) Mine Power Feeder W/Ground-Check EPR CPE 25000 Volts Three Conductor cables are three-conductor cables that include two neutral ground conductors and a ground check conductor.  The cable conductive components are made of Class B, coated, rope-lay-stranded, annealed copper wires.  The annealed copper product used in this cable offers superior flexibility compared to standard copper, but offers the same powerful conductive properties.  The annealed copper phase conductors and the neutral ground conductor are insulated with ethylene propylene rubber (EPR); a synthetic rubber that is resistant to sunlight, moisture, and oil.  The ground-check conductor is insulated with yellow polypropylene.  An extruded strand shield is applied directly over each insulated conductor.  An extruded insulation shield covers the assembly of conductors.  The insulation shield is made of thermoset, semi-conductive material wrapped in copper tape.  The shield serves to prevent leakage and electrical shock.  The cable gets most of its strength from its extra heavy-duty exterior jacket.  The CPE jacket is a layer of lead-cured, chlorinated polyethylene.  This material is resistant to oils, chemicals, high or low temperatures, and weather.  CPE jacketed cables are also flame retardant and have great tensile strength.  The jacket helps with the cable’s overall resistance to crushing, abrasion, and cut-through.

Applications:

Anaconda Brand Type MP-GC (Uniblend EPR) Mine Power Feeder W/Ground-Check EPR CPE 25000 Volts Three Conductor holds a temperature rating of -40°C to 90°C.  The cable is primarily used in light to medium-duty mining applications because of its durable yet flexible construction.  The cable can be used for heavy-duty tasks such as power supply cable, power cable for portable and mobile electric equipment, motors, and industrial appliances.  The cable can also be used in construction zones or locations with a high chance of vehicle run-over.  The cable passes FT-5 flame test and aligns with UL 1650, deeming the cable suitable for use in locations with an increased risk of fire.

Specifications:

-                In accordance with specifications set forth by the American Society of Testing and Materials, a compliance and regulations organization established over 100 years ago, the cable aligns with ASTM standard B172, a standard for rope-lay-stranded conductors.

-                The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection approves this cable.

-                The cable meets CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 96.1 Mine Power Feeder Cables.

-                The cable is compliant with Mining Safety and Health Administration requirements.

 Construction:

-                Conductors

  • The cable features two coated, rope-lay-stranded, annealed copper wire conductors.
  • The cable uses coated, rope-lay-stranded, annealed copper wires.
  • The annealed copper product used in this cable offers superior flexibility compared to standard copper, but offers the same powerful conductive properties.

-                Ground Conductor

  • The assembly includes a coated copper, rope-lay-stranded ground conductor.
  • The ground conductor serves to ensure steady conductivity through the phase conductors.

-                Ground-Check Conductor

  • The ground-check conductor is composed of Class B, coated, rope-lay-stranded, annealed copper.
  • The ground-check conductor is insulated with yellow polypropylene.

-                Insulation

  • The annealed copper phase conductors and the neutral ground conductor are insulated with ethylene propylene rubber (EPR).
  • EPR is a synthetic rubber that is resistant to sunlight, moisture, and oil.

-                Extruded Insulation Shield

  • The insulation shield is made of thermoset, semi-conductive material wrapped in copper tape.
  • The shield serves to prevent leakage and electrical shock.

-                Jacket

  • The cable’s jacket is a layer of lead-cured, chlorinated polyethylene (CPE).
  • This material is resistant to oils, chemicals, high or low temperatures, and weather.
  • The jacket adds tensile strength to the cable and also helps with the cable’s resistance to crushing, abrasion, and cut-through.
  • The jacket comes standard in black but is available in colors if specified.
