Description:
4 AWG Mercer single conductor urd cable is used in secondary power distribution. This aluminum conductor has a gauge size of 4 AWG. This cable supplies power up to 600 volts. The conductor is protected by polyethylene insulation. The insulation material allows the cable to be used for underground power supply delivering 120 amps under direct burial and 85 amps in ducts.

Applications:
#4 Mercer secondary distribution wire is commonly used in residential settings. It is specifically meant for underground power transmissions this is resistant to rocky obstacles commonly found in these areas. Furthermore it can be used as a direct burial wire which involves direct insertion in to the soil with the use of a conduit or duct for protection. However its performance can be affected in these applications if the maximum temperature rating exceeds 90°C in both wet and dry locations.

Conductors:
The conductors are made of aluminum which are compressed at 1350-H19.

Insulation:
Aluminum URD cable has a cross-linked polyethylene insulation (XLPE) which can withstand high temperatures of up to 90°C.
