    Product Details

When we talk about a quadraplex conductor, we are referring to four conductors in a cable out of which three are live and one is the neutral. This is also called three phase configuration. Three phase is good due to its efficiency and reliability when it comes to servicing larger loads. The voltage rating carried in a three phase can be very high. Using a conductor material with a low melting point therefore could be a very inconveniencing deal. We therefore chose Aluminum whose melting point is high. Besides its versatility, it is also a very good conductor. Aluminum conductor makes a very good overhead conductor. A complete quadraplex cable has three aluminum conductors and then the insulation comprises of the crossed-linked Polyethylene which has extruded feature. The three conductors are twisted a round a supporting neutral which is made from a bare conductor. For a service drop cable to be used, it must adhere to the authoritative or international standards like the ASTM. It must qualify all the mechanical and laboratory tests.

    Construction
These quadraplex Aluminum conductors are made with much considerations. One of the many things considered is the class of the Aluminum material used. All aluminum conductors are categorized under the following classes.
    • Class AA stranded conductors
    • Class AAC stranded conductors
    • SIW compressed aluminum conductors

The three aluminum conductors in the quadraplex cable are always black in color. The neutral is also black. However, it has three yellow extrudes which help to distinguish them. Just confusing one line of cables in a three phase can be seriously fatal. Therefore serious keenness that must be invested when this configuration is being handled. These cable here has the distinction already done for you so that you avoid falling for confusion. There is the very critical part of the cable called, insulation which is also known as a jacket system.

    Jacket System
The insulation systems helps to protect the aluminum conductors against any level of damage that can be experienced during installation and when operational. Therefore the material used to make the jacket must be strong enough to withstand abrasion and any breakage. A high density polyethylene material with crossed-link property is always the best. The jacket material must always be extruded in away and meet the standard requirements.

    Operation
This cable can comply up to a maximum conduction temperature of 90 degrees in both dry and wet situations.Quadraplex cables are purposed to serve as three phase service drops in a secondary power distribution line to the service entrance at a user’s premise or home. Besides that, the cables can also be used in the secondary power line where the distribution system has the service splices. The splices are always put at the pole or in the mid-run of the cable to join together cables.

    Phase Identification
A phase is a circle within which power is distributed and it is determined by the number of conducting cables in a system. With quadraplex, there are three conductors with one neutral hence it is called three phase conductor. White print legend is used to identify the phases.
