Aluminum Type MC-XHHW Al Conductors

Applications:

This cable is used for above ground transmissions, carrying up to 600 volts.  This product is used in feeder bay systems, distributing power to primary distribution lines.  This cable is commonly employed in service systems, where power is received by the service drop and distributed individually into buildings or residences.  The cable can also be used in a branch circuit system, the series of conductors that is laid within a residence or building stemming from the distribution panel and ending where the load is connected to an electrical outlet.  MC-XHHW is an insulation material that allows the aluminum conductors to function efficiently in coastal and tropical regions with excessive moisture and rain.  The insulation material works equally well in dry, desert climates. 

Specifications:

• In accordance with standards set forth by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a regulations and compliance organization established over 100 years ago, this product meets or exceeds standard 44 for thermoset-insulated conductors.  Thermo-set insulation is a prepolymer, rubber-like coating that protects the conductors from excessive moisture, heat, and dryness.
• For 2000 kcmil insulated conductors within this product that contain 18 AWG, this product meets or exceeds the UL standard 44.
• This cable can function efficiently in wet or dry locations.  The conductor is able to handle up to 600 volts.

Construction:

This cable consists of XHHW compact-stranded Triple E AA-800 aluminum alloy conductors that are color-coded per ICEA S-58-679, Method 3, Table 2.  Individual aluminum alloy conductors are insulated with a thermoset prepolymer coating and bound together with binding tape along with a bare aluminum grounding wire.  The Insulated conductors are encased in an interlocking aluminum armor that is protects the conductors from corrosion and high heat.
