Photovoltaic Cable

PV Cable is a common market place name which refers to a photovoltaic cable which is used in transmission of power within are newable photovoltaic system which harnesses sunlight rays to generate electric currents in the solar power systems. Electric currents generated from the photovoltaic system are put to a wide range of applications including but not limited to residential places, industries, commercial buildings among other institutions. This invention advocates for the use of Mother Nature as the source of electric energy, which is always available, renewable and has low chances of being depleted. The only shortcoming of the photovoltaic system is that there are a few days in a year when the sunshine is blocked by clouds or cut short by rains. The method of tapping sunlight using the photovoltaic cables in the solar panels to produce electricity is an in thing today and is practiced all over the world. It is why we offer a wide varieties of Photovoltaic Cable in the market for our customers.

Construction of PV Cables
PV cable is made of two drawn or more stranded copper annealed conductors, compacted together with a thicker insulation and jacketing material than the insulation of the USE-2 wire. On the other hand USE-2 wire can deploy either solid or the stranded copper conductors which can be made of copper, aluminum or the copper clad since it is installed in areas with little or no movements and mechanical damages. PV Cables can be made into a smaller conductor size of down to 18 AWG.

Testing requirements:
PV Cables are tested and proven to meet the standards of the flame test, sunlight resistivity test, temperature flexibility at low temperature. The PV wire undergoes 720 hour weather meter as well as the -40 degrees Celsius cold chamber conditioning.

Cable standards and approvals;
UV resistant : HD 605/A1
Ozone Resistant : BS EN 50396
Flame Retardant : BS EN/IEC 60332- 1 -2
Thermal Endurance : BS EN/IEC 60216 - 1

Features and Benefits of PV cable

1.PV cable insulation is made of thermoset of XLPE or the EPCV. The insulation keeps the cable from mechanical damage which may be as a result of wear and tear during pulling of the cable for installation. It also prevent the cable from corrosive chemicals in the environment. Thermoset coating is flame retardant and thus PV cable burns slowly in case of sudden electric blow outs or fire occurrence as compared to other electrical cables.

2.PV wire can enhance the use of an ungrounded PV arrays alongside the inverters that have no transformers, is fast growing trend for module interconnections.

3.It has a temperature operation rating of 90 to 150 degrees. This aspect enables the cable to perform in a wide
environmental conditioning of both wet and dry areas.

4.PV wires are rated 1000 volts or 2000 volts, to help in accommodating photovoltaic modules which are used in systems that carry voltages higher than 600 volts.

Applications
It is designed to provide interconnection to PV modules in the photovoltaic systems which include the solar panel array in the energy plants. Solar panel cables are preferred to be used for fixed installation, in internal and external or within the co nduit systems.
