1/0-3 ASD-VFD Tray Cable

The 1/0-3 ASD-VFD tray cable is a standard cable used in ASD / VFD applications. These cables are designed according to the following regulations:

  • UL Standard 1277
  • ICEA T-29-520
  • IEEE 383
  • IEEE 1202 / CSA FT-4
  • National Electrical Code regulations

These cables are approved for direct burial and use in a number of hazardous locations. They are also RoHS compliant.

Description:

3 conductors, stranded, insulated with heat and moisture resistant cross-linked polyethylene, phase identified, cabled together with suitable fillers and 3 symmetrical bare copper ground conductors. Cable core covered with 5-mil helical copper tape shield, and overall flame and sunlight resistant black PVC jacket. Surface printed. Jacket available in colors.

Features:

  • Suitable for use in NEC Hazardous Locations: Class I - Div 2, Class II - Div 2, and Class III, Div 1 and 2.
  • For use in ASD / VFD applications.
  • Standards: UL 1277
  • Flame Rated: IEEE 383 (70,000 BTU), ICEA T-29-520 (210,000 BTU) on 1/0 and larger IEEE 1202 / CSA FT-4 Two-hour Firewall rated, (2/0 AWG and smaller)Sunlight Resistant, for CT Use; Direct Burial Oil Resistant II

  • Temperature Rating: 90?C Wet / Dry ICEA S-95-658 / NEMA WC-70
  • Exposed runs rated #4 and larger 600 Volt Tray Cable RoHS Compliant.

Specifications:

The 1/0-3 ASD-VFD tray cables feature six conductors: three standard, live conductors and three symmetrical bare copper ground wires. The three main conductors have a size of 1/0 AWG and a stranding of 19 At/Stl. The ground wires are 6 AWG. The conductors are covered with a durable cross-linked polyethylene insulation that’s protects the wire from moisture and heat. This insulation has a nominal thickness of 55 mm. All six of the conductors are cabled together and covered with a 5-mil helical copper tape shield. The entire cable is then covered with a PVC jacket to provide additional protection from fire and sunlight. This complete cable has an overall diameter of 1.188 inches.

This particular cable has an allowable ampacity of 170 amps at an operating temperature of 30 degrees C. It’s rated for a maximum voltage of 600 volts.

Applications:

These types of ASD-VFD cables are designed to work with variable frequency drives (VFD) and AC motors. The cable connects the two so that the VFD can adjust the speed of the AC motor and change the torque. By verifying the voltage and the motor input frequency, the VFD is able to conserve power and can improve the performance of the motor. These types of motors are often used in fans, conveyors, and water pumps.

1/0-3 ASD-VFD cables are rated for use in NEC Hazardous Location, including Class I, Division 2, Class II, Division 2, and Class III, Divisions 1 and 2 areas. They can be used in wet or dry areas as needed.

Variable frequency drive cables are used by many to put together variable frequency drive system to a motor. The cables are majorly used in so many big factories and other automated service system in companies. This makes it very necessary to consider putting in mind the kind of machines used; they really must have high end technological cables to be able to carry out work such as grinding, data processing and even bottling. Because the machines are quite heavy, this is why we need standard VFD cables.
