Product Description:

The conductive element of this cable is a bare annealed stranded copper conductor.  This cable utilizes the advantages of annealed copper.  The process of annealing the copper softens the metal so that the product has more flexibility than standard copper, yet still offers the same powerful conductive properties.  The cable is insulated with an ethylene propylene (EPR) insulation.  The ethylene propylene jacket adds mechanical strength to the cable and protects the conductors from corrosion.  There is a semi-conducting tape between the conductor and the insulation.  The exterior jacket is a red cross-linked polyethylene jacket that serves as the first line of defense against sunlight, water, and other corrosive elements.

Applications:

This cable is used as a power lead for temporary connections and can be used in multiple other industrial applications.  The cable is designed to be used with tap-off or jumper claps which allow temporary connectors or by-pass of energized power lines up to 15,000 volts.  The cable’s flexible construction makes it easy to maneuver and store.  The cable is able to operate continuously at temperatures as low as -40°C and up to and including 90°C.

Specifications:

  • In accordance with specifications set forth by the American Society of Testing and Materials, a compliance and regulations organization established over 100 years ago, this cable aligns with ASTM B172.  This specification sets standards for coated or uncoated annealed copper wires used for electrical purposes.
  • This product meets or exceeds ASTM standard B33; a specification that sets standards for annealed copper wires used for electrical purposes.
  • This cable meets ICEA S-75-381 for insulated electric cables.

Construction:

-                Conductor

  • The conductive component of this cable is a bare annealed stranded copper conductor.
  • The annealed copper cable used in this product offers more flexibility and maneuverability than a standard copper cable.

-                Insulation

  • The cable is insulated with an ethylene propylene (EPR) insulation.
  • The insulation adds mechanical strength to the cable and also helps protect the conductors from corrosion.

-                Jacket

  • The red outer jacket is made of cross-linked polyethylene.
  • The jacket is sunlight, moisture, water, and oil resistant.
