This is a 27% nickel coated copper cable consisting of flexible strands. It has a nickel coating to improve its thermal performance, conductivity, and corrosion resistance. Nickel has a high resistance to environmental elements caused by things like salty spray, reducing chemicals, and alkalis- and this is the reason why this coating on the wire protects it from corrosion. Nickel also performs well in high temperature environments and has good ductility and low hardness in annealed condition. The 27% nickel coating by product weight of the wire provides a superb corrosion resistance especially at negative temperatures like those that prevail in the stratosphere that can be as low as -60 degrees Celsius.

Applications
• Meant to be used in circuits that need protection from high temperature and mechanical abuse.
• This wire is used in extreme high temperature locations like in iron manufacturing plants, steel manufacturing plants, aluminum manufacturing plants, paper making plants, glass making plants, steel production plants, and in iron production plants.

Insulation
• Reinforced mica and PTFE fluoropolymer insulation tape wraps
• A reinforced mica tape and wraps of PTFE fluoropolymer insulation tape containing fiberglass braid covers are used to insulate each conductor. Mica excellently resists high temperatures and can be used as primary insulation. It also resists moisture and radiation while withstanding harsh electrical and thermal loads. The glass scrim back on the composite tape provides more mechanical strength. The PTFE tape wraps also offer superb insulation. PTFE has low dissipation, wide temperature range operations, low smoke generation, chemical resistance, moisture resistance, flame resistance, and solvent resistance.
• In most cases, PTFE tape is sintered to ensure excellent resistance to abrasion and provide uniformity and good performance. Overall binder tapes are used on to strengthen the insulation. These binder tapes are made of mica with fused PTFE fluoropolymer overall and are resistant to heat and flame.

Outer jacketing
• Braided fiberglass with high temperature finish
• A fiberglass braided jacketing containing high temperature finish is used on the cable for enhanced protection.

Characteristics
• Moisture, oil, fluid and abrasion resistant.
• Fillers, where needed, are made with flame impervious fibers with moisture repellent finish.
• Cable utilizes Radix “Torque Free” design. This eliminates memory found in traditional right hand or left hand twisted cables.
• Binder tapes provide heat and moisture resistance.
• Not recommended for outdoor use.
