This is a nickel-plated copper strand with a nickel of 2 percent of the wire’s weight. The nickel coating is meant to improve the corrosion resistance of the wire and offer durability and stability especially in high temperature applications. Nickel plating gives an added advantage of temperature protection which can go as high as 750 degrees Celsius. It also provides an excellent corrosion resistance in not only high but also low temperatures such as those witnessed in the stratosphere which go as low as negative – 60 degrees Celsius. In annealed condition, the cable tends to have low hardness and fairly good ductility. It also resists environmental influences from salt spray, alkalis, and reducing chemicals. A nickel coating on a copper wire enhance the thermal performance of the wire.

    Applications
    • For use in high voltage connections and circuits in environments exhibiting high temperatures of up to 200 degrees Celsius Ideal for use in gas spark ignitors
    • This lead wire is used in wiring equipment such as gas water heaters, heating and cooling units, furnaces, range tops, and high voltage ignitors or spark ignitors.

    Insulation
    • Extruded perfluoroalkoxy copolymer (PFA)
    • An insulation made of extruded perfluoroalkoxy copolymer (PFA) is used to insulate the nickel-coated copper cable. PFA has excellent water resistance properties. It is also resistant to acid, alkali, gasoline, kerosene, and degreaser solvents. This insulation material is considered to be resistant to alcohol and underground burial. It also performs excellently in exposure to ozone, abrasion, and it has great electrical properties.

    Characteristics
    • Offers smallest outside diameter of 250°C hi volt wires for ease in installation and lower assembly costs.
    • High voltages - depending on AWG size up to 30 KV DC
    • High flexibility
    • Excellent resistance to chemicals
    • Ozone and corona resistant
