• CSA listed via C22.2 No 3985 as Type RW90 1kV
• FT-4 and VW-1 flame test compliant
• RoHS compliant
• Low Smoke Rated (LS-UL)

Specifications:

The 4/0 DLO diesel locomotive cable features a nominal insulation thickness of 0.080 inches. It has a stranding (Al/Stl) of 551/24 and a diameter complete cable (O.D.) of 0.84 inches. The cable has an allowable ampacity of 400 amps at 90 degrees Celsius. This temperature is also the cables maximum continuous conductor temperature in both dry and wet areas. A coil of 1,000 feet of this cable weighs 930 pounds.

DLO cables are highly resistant to a number of different environmental factors:
• Heat
• Flames
• Acid
• Oils
• Moisture
• Alkalies
• Abrasions and cuts

Applications:

Because of its many different properties, 4/0 DLO cable can be used in a number of different areas and applications:

• As a power supply cable in diesel-electric locomotives (specially the traction motors)
• Railroad car wiring
• Transit car wiring
• Arc welder supply leads
• Telcom power supply/motor leads
• Control and power jumper cables
• Various shipyard applications, including applications where it will be exposed to water.
• Electric earth-moving equipment such as bulldozers and graters
• Drilling rigs, including on-shore and off-shore applications

The cable can be used in many different environments. It can be found in ducts, conduits, troughs, and trays and is often used in any area where superior electrical properties are needed.

DLO is especially suitable to supply power to traction motors of diesel-electric locomotives. It is also recommended as a portable cable for drilling rigs, on-shore or off-shore, railroad and transit car wiring, electric earth-moving equipment, in shipyard applications, arc welder supply leads, power and control jumper cable, Telcom power supply and motor leads. The cable is suitable for use in wet or dry areas, conduit, ducts, troughs or trays, and where superior electrical properties are desired. The maximum continuous conductor temperature for normal operation in wet or dry locations is 90°C. DLO resists oils, acids, alkalies, heat, flame, and has abrasion resistance. Specifications: • Made in accordance with ICEA S-75-381 - Portable and Power Feeder Cables for Use in Mines and Similar Locations • MSHA accepted (P-7K-123040) • RoHS Compliant • UL listed as Type RHH-RHW-2 per UL 44 • CSA listed as Type RW90 1kV per C22.2 No 3895 • Low Smoke Rated (LS-UL) • Meets FT-4 and VW-1 Flame Tests

The 4/0 diesel locomotive cable has a wide range of applications in various industries across many sectors. It is a 2,000 volts rated multi-stranded wire approved for CT use. This cable is fully annealed and has a copper conducted that is coated with tin. It is suitable for applications that function in temperatures of between -40°C and 90°C. It can hold out continuous exposure to temperatures of up to 90 Degrees Celsius. This flexible and durable wire is used in diesel-electric locomotive traction motor leads and other such machinery.

Some of the characteristics of this cable that make it a favorite wire in industrial applications include its abrasion resistance, oil-resistance and ability to function well in conditions of extreme weather. This multi-stranded cord can survive both dry and wet conditions. It is the preferred cable for conduits, trays and open air.

The primary use of this cable is in industrial wire applications for electricity generation, mining machinery control, engines in transit and rail cars, hoists and cranes, shipyard welding, offshore & onshore oil drilling equipment and other high-draw electric machinery. The 4/0 DLO cable has an exceptional impact resistance and can survive environments of rough-handling, cuts and unending scuffing. Furthermore, the portable wire is resistant to heat & flames, acids, chemicals and alkalis.

The 4/0 DLO cable is fully compliant with code B33 of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). It has a conductor stranding of 532/24 and an insulation thickness of 0.085 inches. Its insulation material is made of Ethylene Propylene Wire (EPR) and it has a jacket material made of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE). Other industry approvals for this durable cable include the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), the Insulated Cable Engineers Association, the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), Canadian Standards Association (CSA) RW90 at 1000 volts and the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 44.
