HW292 HL Listed CIR® Instrumentation Cable Individually Shielded Triads + Ground 0.6/1kV 90° Gexol® Insulation

Product Description:

This cable consists of pairs or triads of CIR® cables that are wrapped in Gexol® insulation and then wrapped in a foil tape for shielding.  The assembly of cables is then jacketed in foil tape and finally encased in a black thermoset compound that is resistant to flames, sunlight, oil, gas, and abrasion.  CIR® cable is a new age cable that is recognized for its exceptional flexibility as well as its crush and impact resistance.  A jacket of flame-retardant Gexol® insulation offers the protection of cross-linked polyolefin to the electrical components of the cable.

Applications:

With a functioning temperature range of -75°C to 90°C, this cable is capable of handling very extreme conditions.  Underwriters Laboratories rates this product acceptable for use in hazardous locations where cables are likely to take a beating.  The cable is recommended for installation within cable tray, however the cable is approved for exposed runs without cable tray.  The cable is also approved for use on marine vessels and offshore drilling units because of its virtually impenetrable jacketing.  The combination of the thermoset exterior armor, the Gexol® insulation, and foil shielding protect the conductors from corrosive elements at sea.

Specifications:

  • HW292 HL Listed CIR® Instrumentation Cable passes the IEEE 1202 flame test administered by Underwriters Laboratories.
  • Underwriters Laboratories standard 1277 and 2225 require the conductors to meet necessary criteria so they can be approved for use in hazardous locations.  The cable meets or exceeds these standards and is safe for use in hazardous locations.
  • This cable is rated TC-ER by Underwriters Laboratories.  This classification deems the cable safe for installation in cable tray as well as without cable tray.
  • The cable is safe for use in exposed runs between utilization equipment and a cable tray.  This cable is rated TC-ER-HL by Underwriters Laboratories.  In accordance with 336.10(7) and 505.15(B)(1)(i) and as permitted in 501.10(A)(2) of the NEC, It can also be used where the cable is protected against physical damage using channel, struts, or angles.

Construction:

  • Conductors

-                The conductors in this cable are tinned copper CIR® flexible stranded, soft annealed conductors.  Tin-plating imporves the lifespan of the conductive properties of the cable by up to ten times that of a bare copper conductor.

  • Ground Wire

-                A bare copper ground conductor is included in the assembly.  The ground conductor serves to ensure steady conductivity over the life of the cable.

  • Insulation

-                Gexol® polyolefin insulation jackets each phase conductor pair or triad.  Per UL standards, the polyolefin insulation is certified flame retardant.

  • Shielding

-           Polyester-backed foil tape coats each triad or pair.  The foil tape provides additional shielding to the conductors, then the entire assembly is wrapped in foil.

  • Outer Jacket

-                The assembly is jacketed in a black, thermoset compound that is flame retardant and protects the cables from oil, gas and water vapors, sunlight, and abrasion.
