Product Details

Product Description:

This cable features a soft annealed Class B stranded copper conductors.  The annealed copper used in this cable offers superior flexibility compared to standard copper.  The copper is heated and slowly cooled, removing internal stress and making the copper more malleable.  Each individual conductor is insulated with crosslinked polyethylene (XLP), a moisture and heat-resistant material that protects the conductors from abrasion and corrosion.  The insulated conductors are color coded for identification.  The assembly is a fitted with suitable fillers as necessary to keep the conductors from shifting within the jacket.  The external jacket is composed of polyvinyl chloride.  The outer layer is available in black or colors and is resistant to flame, moisture, oil, chemicals, and sunlight.

Applications:

Per the National Electric Code, this cable is acceptable for use in Class I - Division 2, and Class II – Division 2 hazardous locations.  The cable is suitable for installation in conduit, ducts, trays, or racks.  The cable can be installed in open air applications with proper support from a messenger wire.  The cable is also approved for direct burial.  The XHHW-2 Tray Cable Unshielded Type TC cable holds a temperature rating of 90°C when dry, 75°C when wet.  The cable passes VW-1 flame test and meets UL 1277 flame tray test.  Therefore, the cable is suitable for use in locations with an increased risk of fire.

Specification:

-                The XHHW-2 Tray Cable Unshielded Type TC aligns with Underwriters Laboratories standard UL 1277, which measures thermoset-insulated cables’ ability to retard flames of up to 70,000 BTU.

-                The cable also passes ICEA 210,000 BTU flame test.

-                The cable is UL Listed as Type TC, deeming it suitable for use as tray cable and also for aerial use or direct burial.

-                The cable meets appropriate sections of NEC Articles 318, 340, and 501.

-                Insulated cables are type XHHW-2; crosslinked, high heat-resistant, and water-resistant.
