Gelding 336-336-336-4/0 ACSR Quadruplex Service Drop Cable

Gelding 336-336-336-4/0 ACSR Service Drop Cable

Description:
• The Quadruplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable is a 4-conductor assembly of aluminum alloy 1350-H19 conductors. 1350-H19 is a 99.5% aluminum alloy with added metals to increase the cable’s conductivity, strength, and resistance to corrosion. The assembly includes 3 phase conductors and one neutral messenger wire that is available in 6201-T81 aluminum alloy, all aluminum or aluminum-clad steel reinforced. The conductors are insulated with a polyethylene jacket that protects the conductors from excessive heat, dryness, moisture, or other corrosive elements.

Applications:
• This cable typically delivers power from a pole-mounted transformer to an individual residence or building where the service entrance cable connects with the service head.  The cable can be used in a wide range of climates with the ability to function in temperatures between 75°C and 90°C, depending on the insulation.

Specifications:
• In accordance with specifications set forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials, this cable meets specifications of B-230, B-231, and B-232.  These specifications require the mechanical and electrical components of the wire to function up to standard.  They also require the composition of the alloy itself to consist of 99.5% aluminum.  Other elements such as silicon, copper, and zinc are added to enhance the cable’s strength-to-weight ratio.
• The cable’s neutral messenger meets with ASTM standard B-399, which specifies the requirements of 6201-T81 aluminum alloy.
• For the ACSR neutral messenger option, this product meets ASTM standards B-498 for zinc-coated steel core wire and steel reinforced conductors.

Construction:

Conductors:
• The 3 phase conductors are made of 1350-H19 aluminum alloy.  The 99.5% aluminum mixture of metals gives the conductors the corrosion resistance of aluminum, while adding strength and conductivity through other metals such as zinc, copper, and silicon.
• The neutral messenger wire is available in all aluminum (AAC), aluminum-clad steel reinforced (ACSR), and 6201-T81 aluminum alloy.

Stranding:
• The conductors in this cable are concentrically stranded in a spiral direction. The round wires are compressed to reduce the gaps between the wires, and also to reduce the diameter of the conductors. The four total conductors are cabled together in a similar concentric spiraling assembly.

Insulation:
• The conductors are insulated with the option of a standard polyethylene or a crosslinked polyethylene. For installation in mild climates where weather will not likely be a factor, standard polyethylene insulation can resist heat up to 75°C. For harsher regions such as tropical islands or arid desert locations, the crosslinked polyethylene can handle temperatures up to 90°C.
