15kV Spacer Cable Tree Wire

Product Description:

This conductor is an uninsulated ACSR aluminum 1350-H19, steel reinforced cable.  A high molecular weight polyethylene or cross-linked polyethylene cover protects the cable.

Applications:

This cable can be used for primary or secondary overhead transmission lines and is commonly used in wooded areas.  High-density (rigid) or low-density (flexible) polyethylene cover protects the conductor from falling tree limbs or from snow or ice.  A tree cable would be used to cover a span through dense woodlands or in remote residential areas.  Using a standard conductor to cover such an area would require lots of ongoing maintenance to ensure the lines are free from objects.  The protective cover eliminates a great majority of maintenance when overhead lines are needed in wooded areas.  The polyethylene cover is also much safer for wildlife.

Specifications:

In accordance with specifications set forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials:

  • The aluminum 1350-H19 conductor components of this product meet or exceed B230 standards for said material.
  • The conductor components also meet B231 standard for concentric-lay-stranded aluminum 1350-H19 wires.
  • The steel reinforced aluminum concentric-lay-stranded (ACSR) meets B232 standards.
  • Galvanized zinc-coated steel core for reinforcement meets ASTM B498 standards.

Construction:

  • Conductors

-                Aluminum 1350-H19 conductors

  • Stranding

-                Aluminum conductors are concentrically stranded around a steel core.

  • Reinforcement

-                A steel core, galvanized in a zinc-coating.

  • Outer Jacket

-                A polyethylene protects the conductor from weather or objects that may debilitate the power line.  The polyethylene cover is available in high-molecular polyethylene or cross-linked polyethylene.
